- Download and fill out the Department of Music Parent Form (available in October)
- Audition at the Department of Music
- I would suggest that you NOT audition during the Quad State Festival (late February). This may require a second trip, but I have seen many trumpet players come into their Music Scholarship audition straight from the Quad State Festival with sore and swollen chops and not perform as well as they could have when healthy.
- Your trumpet audition will consist of two contrasting selections from classical music repertoire (your choice), either solos or etudes; major scales through three sharps and three flats (two octaves where possible); and sight-reading.
- Department of Music Acceptance letters will be mailed soon after your audition.
- Music Scholarship letters are mailed in mid April. According to the National Associations of Schools of Music (NASM) you have until May 1st to accept or reject a school's scholarship offer.
5. US Government and MSU Financial Aid (Application due April 1)
6. After Admission
